Odisha Govt Deploys 13 Senior OAS Officers deployed as OSD in Puri for Rath Yatra 2026

Bhubaneswar,(24/06/26);The Odisha government has deployed 13 senior OAS officers as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) in Puri ahead of Rath Yatra 2026, reinforcing administrative machinery for one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.
The General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued the order on Wednesday, building on an earlier directive dated June 17. The officers will remain stationed in Puri from June 25 to July 27, 2026, reporting to the Collector and District Magistrate on arrival for assignment of duties.
Their responsibilities will span crowd management, inter-departmental coordination, law and order maintenance and smooth execution of festival-related activities that draw lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad each year.
The deployment includes senior officials drawn from a wide range of state departments. Subhananda Mohapatra from Housing and Urban Development, Suvash Chandra Nathsharma from the SRC office, Bijaya Kumar Swain from Sports and Youth Services, Niti Ranjan Sen from the Odisha State Seeds Corporation and Debasish Patnaik from the Excise Department are among those assigned.
Eight other officers, including Subrat Kumar Behera, Jitendra Kumar Nayak and Hemanta Bharimal, have also been posted for key field roles.
