Rath Yatra 2026;Odisha Govt. has Deployed around 1,000 Buses to Ferry Devotees to Holy City Puri

Bhubaneswr,( 24/06/26):Ahead of Puri’s annual Rath Yatra, the Odisha Transport Department has deployed around 1,000 buses to ferry devotees to the Holy City, with arrangements also covering the Bahuda Yatra and Suna Besha.
Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur chaired a high-level review meeting on Wednesday to assess preparations for the mega religious event. Temporary permits will be issued for the deployed buses, the department confirmed.
Parking facilities have been earmarked at Malatipatpur and Talabania in Puri, while help desks will be set up at Baramunda bus terminal in Bhubaneswar and Netaji bus terminal in Cuttack. Shuttle services will connect Malatipatpur to Puri for the convenience of pilgrims.
The Puri district administration has also been directed to provide rest sheds and drinking water at both parking sites.
Toll charges at the Pipli toll gate will be waived for buses during the festival to ensure smooth movement. Bus owners have been asked to display fare charts inside their vehicles and the Transport Commissioner has warned of strict action against overcharging.
Special enforcement squads will be deployed across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Ganjam, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Chandikhol, Dhenkanal and Angul, with patrolling on NH-16 and NH-316 to check rash driving.
