District-Level Natural and Organic Farming Workshop Held in Jajpur

JAJPUR :On the occasion of the completion of two years of the State Government, a district-level workshop on Natural and Organic Farming was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Jajpur, at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Badachana.
The workshop aimed to create widespread awareness among farmers about natural and organic farming practices and the balanced use of fertilizers for sustainable agricultural development.
The programme was held in the conference hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Badachana, under the chairmanship of Shri Suresh Chandra Mallik, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Jajpur. Shri Rabindra Kumar Behera, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Jajpur, attended as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the district-level workshop by watering a sapling. Shri Amar Kumar Nayak, Hon’ble MLA, Badachana, and Shri Sitakanta Bal Samanta, President of Jajpur Kisan Morcha, attended as Guests of Honour.
During the programme, the Hon’ble MP and MLA informed the participating progressive farmers, scientists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, and officials of the Agriculture and allied departments about the theme “Bikash Dhara Odisha Sara” and advised them to undertake initiatives at the Gram Panchayat level for the “Kshetra Bachao Abhiyan” campaign, demonstrations of organic farming, and the wider promotion of organic agricultural practices.
At the workshop, Shri Lalit Kumar Mohanty, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Badachana; Shri Arun Kumar Patra, Senior Agriculturist and retired District Agriculture Officer; Shri Subhasish Das, Soil Scientist; and Shri Subrata Panigrahi, Scientist, delivered detailed presentations on organic farming, Soil Health Cards, Integrated Nutrient Management, market linkage for organic products, and traditional agricultural knowledge and practices.
An interactive discussion session between farmers and agricultural experts was also conducted. District-level and block-level agriculture officers, District Agriculture Officers from Dharmasala and Jajpur Road, along with other departmental staff, were present on the occasion. Dr. Piyush Pallav Parida, District Agriculture Officer, Jajpur, coordinated the programme.
More than 120 farmers and women engaged in agriculture from all blocks of the district participated in the workshop.
In addition, exhibition stalls showcasing practical organic farming methods, the use of bio-fertilizers, soil testing kits, organic products, and information related to the Farmer Registry were also organized during the event.
