Say No to Drugs — Say Yes to Life, Health and Progress.
Brahmapur, August 22: In a positive step towards building a healthier and drug-free society, Brahmapur Police organised a series of awareness programmes across seven schools and one college in the city under the Nisha Mukt Odisha initiative, in alignment with the national Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The programmes, conducted by the respective police stations under the direct supervision and active participation of their Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs), reached around 1,000 students. Through interactive discussions and awareness sessions, police officers highlighted the serious physical, mental, social and academic consequences of substance abuse.
The students were encouraged to understand the dangers of drug addiction at an early stage and to resist negative peer influence. The sessions also stressed the important role of parents, teachers, families and communities in helping young people make healthy and responsible choices.
A key message of the campaign was to inspire students to become “Ambassadors of Change” by spreading awareness among their families, friends and neighbourhoods. Officers interacted directly with the students, answered their questions and motivated them to stay away from drugs and encourage others to do the same.
Students were also informed about the MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asoochna Kendra) Portal, a national platform for reporting drug-related activities and seeking counselling and rehabilitation support. The 1933 narcotics helpline was widely publicised during the programmes.
As part of the initiative, all participating students took the Nasha Mukti Sankalp, pledging to lead a drug-free life and contribute towards creating a healthier society.
The awareness drive reflects Brahmapur Police’s commitment to community policing, youth empowerment and preventive action against substance abuse. By taking the message directly to educational institutions, the police have sought to strengthen awareness among young people and build a strong community movement against drugs.
Brahmapur Police appealed to parents, teachers, students and the general public to join hands in making Nisha Mukt Odisha a people’s movement.
