Education Brings Remarkable Change in Remote Hamlet of Kendujhar

Kendujhar: At a time when the Mohan Government faced criticism over the Jitu Munda case, a remarkable success story has emerged from a remote village in Kendujhar district, demonstrating how education can transform lives and communities.
For decades, Khajuripada village under Baripal Panchayat in Ghasipura Block was plagued by widespread liquor addiction. The menace affected nearly every household, leading to social disorder, poverty, and uncertainty about the future of the younger generation. Alcohol abuse not only disrupted family life but also pushed the entire village into a cycle of despair.
The situation was particularly distressing for women, many of whom lost their husbands and breadwinners to excessive alcohol consumption. Children’s education suffered, and hopes for a brighter future appeared bleak. The village seemed trapped in a downward spiral with little prospect of change.
However, a turning point came when the village youth resolved to break free from the destructive cycle. Realizing the devastating impact of addiction on their families and community, they collectively embraced education as the path to progress and social transformation.
Inspired by the ideals of education and self-development, the villagers gradually shifted their focus toward learning and career-building. Their determination yielded remarkable results. Out of nearly 50 families in the village, members from about 35 families have now secured positions in various State and Central Government departments.
Despite facing poverty and limited resources, the villagers remained steadfast in their pursuit of education. Their success stands as a testament to perseverance and collective determination.
One of the most inspiring examples is Baburam Mundia, who is serving as a Sub-Inspector of Police. Another proud son of the village, Kalakar Hansada, is serving as a jawan in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Assam. Whenever these professionals return home during holidays, they motivate local youth and schoolchildren to pursue education and aim for successful careers.
The ongoing Raja festival holidays have provided an opportunity for many such professionals to reunite in their native village. During the gathering, they emphasized the importance of education and encouraged the younger generation to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
Today, Khajuripada stands as a shining example of social transformation through education. The village has largely overcome its past struggles with alcoholism and social unrest. Parents now actively support their children’s education, nurturing aspirations for a better future.
The remarkable journey of Khajuripada demonstrates that education can bring lasting change, restore hope, and empower communities to overcome even the most challenging circumstances. The village’s success story serves as an inspiration for other rural communities striving for progress and development
