Sunabeda: 27/12/21: The Central University of Odisha, Koraput, signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute of Research in Tribal Health, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, to study tribal health in Odisha. The signing ceremony was signed by Prof. Sarat Kumar Palita, Acting  Vice Chancellor of the University, and Dr. Aparup Das, Director, ICMR-NIRTH, in the presence of the Professors and Officers. Professor Palita highlighted the various objectives of the MOU, including the training of students and faculty in the areas of Indigenous Health, Nutrition and Ethno Medicine. This includes the exchange of professors and scientists, joint project supervision and research guidance. Students and faculty at the university’s biodiversity and natural resources conservation, anthropology, sociology, economics, journalism, and public relations and statistics departments can benefit from this. In addition, the tribal-dominated region can play a leading role in health. Dr. Aparup Das, scientist and director of ICMR-Nirath, described the many new research initiatives taken by ICMR-Nirath on the health of the tribal community in India. “If we think about development, we need to focus on the well-being of the indigenous people,” he said. Together, India’s two leading educational and research institutions can develop the region in both education and health, and reach out to those who are inaccessible. The university’s public relations officer, Dr. Fagunath Bhoi, coordinated the program.
