Rahul Gandhi Likely to Visit Odisha in October;Panchayat election ahead(!)

Bhubaneswar: The Congress is set to turn up the political heat in Odisha ahead of the panchayat elections, with Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi likely to visit the state in October, Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhakta Charan Das said Tuesday.

Das said the party has requested Rahul Gandhi’s participation in the ‘Chhatron Ki Gunj’ programme in Bhubaneswar, expected to draw around 20,000 youngsters. The event will focus on issues and aspirations of Gen-Z.

The PCC chief said the party would launch a series of marathon programmes across Odisha ahead of the panchayat polls.

 A padayatra will begin from Nabarangapur on October 2, with Congress workers participating under the supervision of dedicated committees.

Das also said Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are expected to visit Odisha between January and February as part of the party’s wider campaign.

He said a major youth-focused programme would be held in Bhubaneswar in October, signalling the Congress’ effort to strengthen its connect with younger voters while gearing up for the upcoming elections.
