PRIME MINISTER INAUGURATES REDEVELOPED TALCHER RAILWAY STATION UNDER AMRIT BHARAT STATION SCHEME
Modern Passenger Amenities Enhance Rail Gateway to Odisha’s Industrial Heartland

Talcher:Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated the redeveloped Talcher Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) as part of the nationwide dedication of 75 modernized railway stations. Redeveloped at an approximate cost of ₹13 crore, the upgraded station marks a significant step towards enhancing passenger amenities and strengthening railway infrastructure in Odisha’s industrial heartland.
The redevelopment has transformed Talcher Railway Station into a modern, passenger-friendly transport hub with an extended station building, improved circulating area and approach road, additional platform shelters, raised and resurfaced platforms, spacious waiting hall, modern toilets, improved passenger seating, upgraded lighting, standardized signage and aesthetically designed spaces incorporating Odisha’s rich art and cultural heritage.
The redevelopment has been planned in accordance with the station’s existing operational requirements and passenger movement pattern, with emphasis on improving passenger convenience, accessibility and the overall travel experience.
Serving the Angul–Talcher coal and energy belt, the redeveloped station is expected to strengthen regional connectivity, facilitate industrial and commercial activities and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
Talcher Railway Station is among the 59 stations in Odisha being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, reflecting Indian Railways’ commitment to creating modern, passenger-centric railway infrastructure.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Rudra Narayan Pany, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Shri Ashok Mohanty, MLA, Pallahara; Shri Agasti Behera, MLA, Chhendipada; Shri Braja Kishore Pradhan, MLA, Talcher; Shri Satrughan Jena, MLA, Kamakhyanagar; and Shri Pratap Chandra
radhan, MLA, Angul. The programme was conducted by Shri Rajdhari Yadav, ADRM/Infra, Khurda Road Division.
