Patrolling team gave an excellent result; a accused arrested in Gosaninuagaon Police Station Case

Gosaninuagaon Police Station has arrested the accused in a murder case registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Berhampur,On 31.05.2026, a case was registered on the written report of ASI Ranjit Kumar Raula, who during day patrolling received credible information about an unknown dead body lying on the veranda of an abandoned house near the backside of Geeta Bhawan, Hillpatana.
The body had injuries on the head and face, and a cement flower vase was found nearby. Initial inquiry suggested homicide.
During investigation, the deceased was identified as Nrusingh Behera. It emerged that on the night of 30.05.2026, the accused Jagannath Behera (33), S/o Damburu Behera of Babaji Tota Sahi, PS B.N. Pur and the deceased had gone together to a scrap dealer’s shop at Kamapalli to sell old iron rods. After selling the material, they came to the abandoned house at Hillpatana where a dispute arose over division of the money.
In the ensuing fight, the accused allegedly assaulted the deceased with fist blows. When the deceased fell down, the accused allegedly picked up the cement flower vase lying nearby and hit him on the head, causing his death on the spot.
The accused was arrested on 10.06.2026 at around 11:00 AM and produced before the Hon’ble Court of SDJM, Berhampur. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
