One Arrested for Threatening Woman with Private Video by Baidyanathpur Police

Brahmapur, August 24, 2026: Baidyanathpur Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a case involving the alleged recording and threatened public disclosure of a woman’s private video.
The accused has been identified as Manash Behera (29), son of Late Trinath Behera, of K. Subani under Golanthara Police Station. He was arrested in connection with Baidyanathpur PS Case No. 445 dated August 21, 2026, registered under Sections 77, 296 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 66(E) and 67(A) of the Information Technology Act.
According to the complaint, the accused was known to the woman since childhood and had allegedly secretly recorded her private video calls.
On August 21, he allegedly visited her residence, abused her in obscene language, displayed the private video on his mobile phone and threatened to make it public.
During the investigation, police seized the mobile phones of both the accused and the complainant, along with a Redmi tablet belonging to the accused. Police also recovered electronic evidence related to the alleged private video from the accused’s mobile phone.
Police said the accused had earlier been involved in Baidyanathpur PS Case No. 416 dated August 5, 2026, relating to alleged assault and threats against the same complainant. In that case, he had been served notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS. Despite the notice, he allegedly committed the present offence.
The accused was arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court. Further investigation is underway.
