18 Stolen Two-Wheelers Recovered; Two Arrested, Two Juveniles Produced Before JJB

Brahmapur, September 14, 2026: Badabazar Police have busted an alleged inter-district vehicle theft gang and recovered 18 stolen two-wheelers, besides seizing two vehicles allegedly used in the commission of the offences. Two adult accused have been arrested, while two 16-year-old Children in Conflict with Law (CCLs) have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Brahmapur.

The case came to light after Badabazar Police Station registered Case No. 682/2026 dated September 12, 2026, under Sections 331(4)/305(a)/61(2)/111(2)(a)/111(4)/111(6) of the BNS, based on a complaint lodged by a 57-year-old resident of Mentu Chhak, Old Brahmapur.

According to police, the complainant’s Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle was allegedly stolen from the Dhoba Bandha Huda Park area during the early hours of September 7, 2026.

CCTV Analysis Leads to Breakthrough

During the investigation, Badabazar Police reportedly conducted spot verification, examined CCTV footage and developed intelligence inputs. These efforts allegedly led investigators to an organised vehicle theft network operating across districts.

On September 13, police apprehended two adult suspects and detained two 16-year-old juveniles in connection with the investigation. Police said that some other suspected associates are currently absconding and efforts are underway to trace them.

Police said the following vehicles were recovered from the accused and the two juveniles:

Police also seized one Hero Glamour motorcycle and one Vespa VXL scooter, which were allegedly used as conveyance vehicles in the commission of the offences.

Two Adults Sent for Judicial Remand

The arrested adult accused have been identified as:

Sankar Das, 26, son of Ramesh Das, Bainganabadi, under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station; and

Rahul Sahu, 19, son of Bipra Sahu, Bainganabadi, under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.

Both accused were arrested and forwarded to the Court of the SDJM, Brahmapur, with a prayer for judicial remand.

The two Children in Conflict with Law, both aged 16, were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Brahmapur, after counselling in the presence of their parents/guardians.

Badabazar Police said the investigation remains underway. Police are also attempting to trace the absconding associates and ascertain their alleged involvement in other vehicle theft cases.
