Gosaninuagaon Police Bust Alleged Criminal Conspiracy; Four Held with Pistol and Cash

Brahmapur, September 15, 2026: In a significant detection ahead of the festive season, Gosaninuagaon Police have arrested four persons allegedly found assembled with a pistol while planning criminal activity near Gosaninuagaon Main Road.

The arrests were made during a police operation on September 14 following specific intelligence regarding the gathering of armed anti-social elements at a house in the area.

According to police, Gosaninuagaon Police Station registered Case No. 354 dated September 14, 2026, under Sections 111/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 25(6) of the Arms Act.

Acting on the intelligence input, a police team led by SI G.R. Das, along with other police personnel, cordoned off the suspected hideout at around 6 PM on September 14 and conducted a raid.

The operation was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent government witnesses.

Police arrested the following four persons:

Kailash Mahanty @ Budu (49), son of Late Udayanath Mahanty, Old Brahmapur, under Badabazar Police Station.

Chandra Sekhar Das @ Pinku Das (44), son of Khali Das, Salia Bandh Sahi, under Gosaninuagaon Police Station.

Situn Sahu (25), son of Tutu Sahu, Balajipentha Sahi, under Badabazar Police Station.

Debashish Patro (30), son of Asok Kumar Patro, Kalua Sahi, under Gosaninuagaon Police Station, Ganjam district.

During the operation, police seized several articles from the spot, including:

One silver-coloured pistol with golden grips and trigger, without magazine

Rs.66,720 in cash

One blue iPhone 16

One blue OPPO mobile phone

One green Samsung Galaxy Fold 8

One Samsung A35 5G mobile phone

Two Royal Enfield motorcycles

Police suspect that the four had assembled to plan or facilitate criminal activity. The swift action by Gosaninuagaon Police prevented the alleged plan from progressing further, police said.

The arrested persons were forwarded to the Hon’ble Court on September 15, 2026.

Further investigation is underway to establish the exact motive behind the gathering, the intended criminal activity, and the source and ownership of the seized firearm. Police are also examining the seized mobile phones, cash and vehicles as part of the investigation.
