Education and Pension Issues Raised at Block-Level ‘Self-Reliant Youth, Prosperous Odisha Convention’

Jajpur, June 21 :A block-level “Self-Reliant Youth, Prosperous Odisha Convention” was held at the Binjharpur Block premises. Hundreds of young men and women from various panchayats of the block participated in the event and learned about different government schemes related to self-employment, skill development, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment. The convention inspired the younger generation towards self-reliance and the creation of new employment opportunities.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Pramila Mallik, MLA of Binjharpur, strongly criticized the government over the state’s education system and social security schemes. In particular, she alleged that there were more than 1,800 errors in textbooks for students from Classes I to VIII. She stated that such negligence in a sensitive sector like education poses a serious threat to the future of students. She emphasized that the government must give greater importance to correcting the errors in textbooks and ensuring quality education.

Mallik also raised concerns over the discontinuation of old-age pensions for the past three months and questioned the government’s functioning.

 She said that the failure to properly implement welfare schemes intended for vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of society is a matter of serious concern. She further urged the government to create more employment opportunities for youth, provide skill development training, and take effective measures to promote self-reliance.

Among those present at the event were Block Chairperson Ranjita Kumari Das, Vice-Chairperson Sekh Irshad, BDO Chhabilata Sahu, and CDPO Rukmani Sahu. On the second day of the convention, the proceedings were conducted by ABDO Satyajit Biswal. With the active participation of hundreds of young men and women, the convention provided detailed information on government schemes, self-employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship development. Speakers also emphasized strengthening the role of youth in building a prosperous Odisha by developing their capabilities and potential.
