Berhampur, (17/04/26): : With a large chunk of big defaulters delaying their rental of municipal business stall payment in the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has determined to recover the dues. Today BeMC in Action against Defaulters.

The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has initiated strict enforcement measures against rent and property tax defaulters in City, involving the issuance of notices, potential cancellation of agreements, and attachment of properties if necessary.
Mayor,Sanghamitra Dalei upset told the Municipal Corporation instruction to be followed strictly instruction to speedy its efforts to collect revenue from tax defaulters to address significant financial shortages. Recent reports in council indicate that the corporation is facing financial issues, including a shortfall of in crore, in monthly revenue, due to poor tax collection, despite having a substantial tax base of over 60,000 holdings . The corporation has struggled with low collection of taxes and trade license house rent fees, frequently falling short of annual targets.
BeMC badly experienced huge outstanding amount from various government sectors has also alarmed the civic body officials. She added.
Speaking to Odishabarta Ms.Kalyani, Sanghamitra,Deputy Commissioner said that our tax collection wing wit su heavy temperature in city thay managed to collect RS.27,25,450 from 143 business stalls towards long time outstanding rental trade licence fee from 10th april to17th april.
We started this special drive from 10th April 2026 and collected till dated 17th evening Rs.27,25,450/- with this Rs. 20,61,85 Offline, and Rs. 6.6,596 Online included.
LATKA’ at 11 stalls notice pasted because of violating of notice served them much before .and our next course of action to Cancel their agreement.
Similarly around 125 rental business stalls around 125 establishment across berhampurcity are all covered.

While interacted with new Commissioner Ms.Sushree A.Sasya reddy,IAS said we have identified numerous properties, including high-value commercial units, with outstanding dues running into corers of rupees. We launched the distribution of the QR code to stall owners at a function here.
“We hope this online payment mode proves beneficial to both the civic body and vendors,” she said. The vendors can pay rent online by using the unique QR code generated in his/ her name. The options are open. Within our a week time fixed we could able to collect Rs.27 lakhs .
This drive will continue and the proceeding of financial committee decision we shall not compromise with any at any cost and above any nature of influence .The strict enforcement measures against rent and property rent years together defaulters in City , involving the issuance of notices, potential cancellation of agreements, and attachment of properties if necessary.
