Gopalpur Police Arrest 54-Year-Old Man in POCSO Case Involving 9-Year-Old Girl (!!!).

Brahmapur, October 8, 2026: Gopalpur Police have arrested a 54-year-old man in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a nine-year-old girl under the Gopalpur Police Station limits.
The accused has been identified as Subash Mukhi @ Subash Limaie (54), son of Late Chakrapani Lemaie, a resident of Ichhapur Belapada Sahi under Ichhapur Police Station in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
According to police, Gopalpur PS Case No. 585 dated October 6, 2026 was registered under Sections 74 and 75(1)(i)(ii) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 10 of the POCSO Act.
Minor Girl Allegedly Assaulted Inside House
As per the complaint, the incident allegedly occurred on October 6 at around 1 PM, when the nine-year-old child returned home from school for lunch. The accused, who was reportedly known to the family, allegedly came to the house on a pretext and entered the premises.
Police alleged that the accused then sexually assaulted the minor girl.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Following registration of the case at around 7:45 PM on October 6, Gopalpur Police initiated an investigation. The investigating team visited the spot, examined witnesses and recorded their statements under Section 180 of the BNSS.
The victim was also sent for medical examination as part of the investigation.
Based on the prima-facie evidence collected during the investigation, police arrested Subash Mukhi on October 7 at around 7:30 AM. Police said all prescribed arrest formalities were followed and the grounds of arrest were communicated to the accused in the Odia language.
The arrested accused was subsequently forwarded to the Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings.
Police said further investigation into the case is continuing.
