Four-Member Livestock Theft Gang Arrested by K. Nuagaon Police; Car and Weapon Seized

Brahmapur, 07/10/2026: K. Nuagaon Police have arrested four persons in connection with a livestock theft case and seized a Maruti car and an iron weapon allegedly used in the commission of the crime.

The arrested persons have been identified as Anujaya Swain (21) of Jahada under Dharakote Police Station, Sangram Sahu (21) of Barasinghi under Sheragada Police Station, Deepak Kumar Sahu (21) of Sheragada, and Arman Nayak (21) of Gobara under Gangapur Police Station, all from Ganjam district.

The case was registered at K. Nuagaon Police Station as Case No. 187 dated 18.08.2026, initially under Section 305(a) of the BNS. During investigation, Sections 331(4) and 3(5) of the BNS, along with Section 25(1)(a) of the Arms Act, were subsequently added.

According to police, the case originated from a written complaint lodged by Bankanidhi Gouda (54) of Tentiapada village under K. Nuagaon Police Station. During a night naka checking operation in the Nuapada area, police intercepted a Maruti car bearing registration number OD33 AY 2787.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly recovered an iron sword and fur of goats and sheep from the dicky of the car.

During interrogation, accused Sangram Sahu allegedly disclosed that he and his associates had been involved in the theft of goats and sheep in areas under K. Nuagaon and Jarada Police Stations, with the alleged assistance of local associates.

Police further stated that the accused allegedly admitted to stealing 18 goats from a cowshed at Tentiapada village on 16 August 2026.

Following the investigation, all four accused persons were arrested at around 12.10 PM on 7 October 2026 and subsequently forwarded to the JMFC Court, Digapahandi, for further legal proceedings.
