Two Arrested in Borigaon Assault Case; Broken Brick Seized

Berhampur, September 11, 2026: Nimakhandi Police have arrested two persons in connection with an alleged assault arising out of a dispute over the enclosure of a village community house (Kothaghara) at Borigaon.
According to police, a case was registered at Nimakhandi Police Station vide Case No. 287, dated September 10, 2026, under Sections 126(2), 296, 115(2), 109(1), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The incident reportedly occurred on September 10 when a dispute broke out over the enclosure of the village Kothaghara. During the ensuing altercation, Balaji Sahu (40) and Balaram Sahu (29) allegedly abused and threatened Kartik Sahu (41).
Police alleged that Balaji Sahu subsequently assaulted Kartik Sahu on the head with a broken brick, resulting in bleeding injuries. The injured person was sent for medical treatment.
Following receipt of the complaint, Nimakhandi Police initiated an investigation. The investigating team inspected the spot, examined witnesses under Section 180 of the BNSS, requisitioned a scientific team and collected relevant evidence in connection with the case.
Police further stated that a broken brick, allegedly used in the assault, was seized during the investigation.
The two accused, Balaji Sahu and Balaram Sahu, were arrested at around 11:30 AM on September 11 and are being forwarded to the Court of the JMFC (Rural Cognizance Taking), Berhampur, for further legal proceedings.
The allegations are subject to judicial determination, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court.
