131st Birth Anniversary of Acharya Vinoba Bhave Celebrated in Rayagada

Rayagada, September 11: Various socio-cultural organizations, trade unions, and civil society groups gathered last Friday at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Rayagada to commemorate the 131st birth anniversary of national spiritual teacher and Bhoodan movement founder, Acharya Sant Vinoba Bhave.

The gathering paid floral tributes to the saint-reformer, recalling his monumental contributions to land distribution, non-violence, and grassroots rural self-reliance. Speakers highlighted the contemporary relevance of Bhave’s philosophy of Sarvodaya (welfare for all) and urged citizens to apply his ideals to modern social and economic challenges.

The commemorative event brought together a distinguished panel of leaders and intellectuals, including Dr. Badal Kumar Tah, Secretary, Utkal Sarvodaya Mandal, Rayagada, Smt. Bidulata Huika, State Convenor, Odisha Adibasi Manch & District President, KBK Surakhya o Unnayan Parishad, Laureate Jayadev Sitha, Jogeswar Das, State Vice President, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha (BMS), Deepak Kumar Prusty, Secretary, GCD Walkers Club, Rasmiranjan Dora, Society for Fast Justice, Rayagada, Ajay Kumar Rath, Convenor, Rayagada Nagarika Mancha, Rabindra Patakhandal, Advisor, Zilla Sambadik Sangha, Rayagada, Ganesh Kumar Sahu, District Secretary, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangha, Rayagada, Niranjan Senapati, BMS Leader, Dambaru Panda, Emancipated Citizen and Social Activist and M. Attendees collectively resolved to keep Vinoba Bhave’s legacy alive by fostering unity, social justice, and inclusive community welfare across the district.
