NTPC Kaniha, 26 May 2026:At around 4:20 PM on 26 May 2026, a leakage occurred in the ASS-2F ash slurry pipeline while carrying out flushing activity inside the MGR area within the plant boundary of NTPC Kaniha. Due to high-pressure discharge, ash slurry spread beyond the plant boundary and affected three houses in the nearby Bijigol village.
Immediately after the incident, the site team reached the affected area and initiated containment, cleaning, and restoration activities. Discussions were held with the affected families, and necessary support and assistance have been assured to remove ash deposits from the affected residential areas.
A detailed technical investigation has also been initiated to identify the root cause of the incident and plan preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
The situation is being closely monitored, and necessary restoration activities are being carried out on priority.
