73.97% Voter Turnout In 1st Phase Assembly & Lok Sabha Elections in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: As per the latest information provided by the Election Commission of India, Odisha recorded 73.97 per cent voter turnout in the first phase of the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha polls held on Monday. Voting took place in Lok Sabha constituencies of Kalahandi, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Berhampur and the 28 Assembly segments under them.
So far voter turnout of 73.97 % was recorded, stated Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
The approximate voter turnout of 73.97% was recorded as of 11:45 pm on Monday.
Berhampur had the lowest 63.34 % voter turnout, Kalahandi saw 75.71 % voter turnout in the first phase of the elections. Similarly, 76.98 % voter turnout was recorded in Koraput and the highest 80.22% voting was recorded in Nabarangpur district.
A total of 244 candidates contested in the in the 28 Assembly seats that went to polls on Monday. Similarly 37 candidates were in the fray in the four Lok Sabha seats, where voting ended on Monday.
In the first phase polls in Odisha, voters exercised their franchise in 7303 polling booths. The eligible voters in these constituencies were 62, 87,222 including 30, 97,527 male voters and 31, 89,060 female voters.
