Brahmapur, October 30, 2026: Heavy rainfall triggered by Cyclone ‘Arnab’ caused flooding on a stretch of the National Highway (NH) along the Odisha–Andhra Pradesh border, disrupting vehicular movement and resulting in a massive traffic jam.

Two trucks have remained stranded in the floodwater on the highway since last night, leading to a long queue of vehicles on both sides.

The situation was further aggravated after vehicles from the Andhra Pradesh side were reportedly allowed to move onto the wrong side of the highway, contributing to the traffic congestion.

Authorities have been making continuous efforts to clear the stranded vehicles and restore normal traffic movement in coordination with Andhra Pradesh Police.

Meanwhile, in a significant relief to stranded commuters and transport operators, vehicular movement towards Andhra Pradesh resumed around noon on Friday, approximately one hour before the latest update.

Efforts are continuing to clear the remaining congestion and facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles. The highway is expected to be cleared shortly, subject to the prevailing flood conditions.
