Cuttack, October 30, 2026: Odisha’s modern skill development infrastructure is emerging as a major gateway to international employment opportunities for the state’s youth. The world-class infrastructure and high standards of training at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR), Odisha, have earned appreciation from a Japanese delegation and its collaborating agency, Navis HR.
The professional skills and driving expertise of Odisha’s trained drivers are opening doors to attractive salaries, better facilities and long-term career opportunities in Japan. Under the guidance of Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the state government is continuing its efforts to enhance the skills of local youth and connect them with employment opportunities at the international level.
As part of this achievement, 12 candidates trained at the IDTR have already secured employment in Japan and are successfully pursuing their careers there. In addition, another 33 skilled candidates are currently undergoing Japanese language and orientation training in Bengaluru through Navis HR.
They are expected to travel to Japan shortly to begin their professional careers.
According to the Japanese representatives, drivers from Odisha are professionally disciplined and well-trained, with their demand in the overseas employment market steadily increasing.
To further strengthen these opportunities, the IDTR at Chhatia organised a ‘Driver Career Opportunity Programme’ in collaboration with Navis HR. The programme provided aspiring drivers with an opportunity to interact directly with Japanese transport operators and gain first-hand information about the working environment, language requirements and lifestyle in Japan.
Apart from overseas employment, the state government is also focusing on creating better job opportunities for trained youth within Odisha and other parts of the country. Employment fairs are being organised regularly by utilising the infrastructure of all four IDTRs in the state to connect skilled candidates with reputed organisations and improve their employment prospects.
The initiative marks an important step towards transforming Odisha’s driver training infrastructure into a platform for global employment and sustainable career development for the state’s youth.
