STF team conducted a raid; Seized Leopard Skin from wild life criminals

Bhubaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, STF team conducted a raid with the help of Manada Forest Range officials under Rairangapur Forest Division Dist. Mayurbhanj near Chatani Bus Stop PS. Bisoi about a deal of sale of Leopard Skin by wild life criminals today i.e. on 02.11.2021, as a result of which two accused persons namely 1) Ajit Kumar Giri S/o-Late Muralidhar Giri of Palas Bani, PS-Rairangpur , Dist Mayurbhanja and 2) Chandrakant Kurji S/o- Shyam Kurji of Jagularghara PS Khunta, Dist-Mayrubhanja were apprehended.

During search, 01 (One) Leopard Skin, 02 Nos M/C and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of Leopard Skin, for which they have been detained and handed over to Rairangapur forest officials for necessary legal action at their end. Investigation is on.

During last one year, Special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 19 nos Leopard skin, 10 nos Elephant Tusk, 02 deer skin, 05 live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales and arrested 39 wild life criminals.

STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain the one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals
