Gambling Den Busted in Brahmapur ; Four Apprehended, Cash and Gambling Materials Seized (?)

Brahmapur, October 9, 2026: Brahmapur Sadar Police apprehended four persons during a raid on an alleged gambling den in the Balipada area on October 7, seizing Rs.38,500 in cash and other materials suspected to have been used for gambling.
According to the police, the raid was conducted after the Sadar Police team received reliable information about gambling activities in the area.
During the operation, two alleged gamblers and two persons suspected of organising the activity were apprehended at the spot.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Jitendra Bisoyi (24) and Sameer Bisoyi (20), both residents of Balipada Main Road under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station; Nilanchala Behera (54), a resident of Goods Road, Chachadapadia Sahi, under Gosani Nuagaon Police Station; and S. Ganesh Reddy (31), a resident of Bada Sahi, Odasingi, under Digapahandi Police Station. All four are from Ganjam district.
Police seized Rs.38,500 in cash, eight packets of playing cards, two mobile phones, one item described in the police release as a “Jari Pall,” and four battery-operated lights during the raid.
In connection with the incident, Brahmapur Sadar Police registered Case No. 616 dated October 7, 2026, under Sections 121, 132, 296, 109 and 112(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 3 of the Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act, as cited in the police release.
The police stated that all four accused were arrested after completing the prescribed formalities and forwarded to the court.
