BERHAMPUR:At least three persons were killed in a mishap at Goshani Nuagaon in Ganjam’s Berhampur.
As per reports, a fire broke out at the house of President of Berhampur Cooperative Society, Alekh Choudhury. However, unable to escape, Alekh and two others remained trapped amid the flames and the smoke.
As the incident occurred late last night, Alekh’s family members were unaware of the tragedy. With no there options left, Alekh called the fire services himself before passing out.
Fire personnel rushed to the spot and found the trio lying unconscious. Though they were immediately rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, doctors here pronounced them “dead”.
According to Fire Officer,Sanatan Mohapatra, the fire was triggered by a short circut at about 02:15 hrs on today. The fire fighers have rescued three persons namely Alekha Choudhury age 69 +, Bhagaban Patra age 84 + & Sunil Behera age 19 + and shifted them to MKCG for treatment.Fire is extinguished completely cause of Fire and loss save under assessment.
Late Alekh Choudhury Bron 19-9-52, he is very active in his entire political carrear.He was the Vice President of Odisha Krushak Janata Dal,President of Ganjam Cement Distributor Association,Presdinet of Auto transporter Association.Few days back he completed his tenure as President of Berhampur Central Co-Op Bank.He was bstowed many awards National and International level.
Berhampur MP,Chandra Sekhar Sahu,MLA,Bikram Panda and many leaders condoled death of Choudhury.
