Two Adulterated Food Manufacturing Units Busted in Brahmapur; Over 4,100 Litres of Products Seized

Brahmapur, October 7, 2026: In a major crackdown on illegal food manufacturing, Badabazar Police in Brahmapur busted two unlicensed units allegedly engaged in the manufacture and distribution of adulterated food products in separate raids conducted within 24 hours.
The raids were carried out on October 5 at Ganapati Nagar and Dwarika Nagar under Badabazar Police Station limits, in coordination with Food Safety Officers and Health Officers of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC).
Two persons were arrested in connection with the two cases and were forwarded to the court of the SDJM, Brahmapur, on October 6. Police said one of the arrested persons had previously been involved in a similar offence.
Oil Processing Unit Raided at Ganapati Nagar
Acting on reliable intelligence, a police team led by SI Bighneswar Swain raided an illegal oil-processing unit operating in the name of Balaji Enterprises at 5th Line, Ganapati Nagar.
The unit was allegedly manufacturing groundnut oil, coconut oil and gingelly (til) oil under different labels, including GM, AS, Royal Coconut Oil and R.K. Super Til Oil.
According to police, the unit was functioning without the mandatory FSSAI registration and Trade Licence.
The products were allegedly being prepared in unhygienic conditions, raising concerns over their safety for human consumption.
Police seized 240 litres of coconut oil, 224 litres of groundnut oil and 15 litres of gingelly oil, besides 450 blank printed bottles and one packaging machine.
Sauce Manufacturing Unit Busted at Dwarika Nagar
In a separate raid led by SI Krutibas Nayak, police and officials inspected an industrial unit at Dwarika Nagar allegedly operating in the name of Srya Food Pvt. Ltd.
The unit was allegedly manufacturing tomato sauce, tomato ketchup, soybean sauce, chilli sauce and vinegar under the A1 Brand.
The operator reportedly failed to produce the required Trade Licence, FSSAI registration and purchase bills during the inspection.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 1,950 litres of tomato sauce, 850 litres of tomato ketchup, 390 litres of soybean sauce and 450 litres of chilli sauce.
Officials also seized 1,800 empty bottles, 20 bundles of A1 Brand stickers, four packaging machines and one weighing machine.
Two Cases Registered:-Badabazar Police registered Case No. 756 dated October 5, 2026, and Case No. 757 dated October 5, 2026, under Sections 318(4), 274, 275 of the BNS, along with relevant provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and Section 16 of the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
Samples of the seized food products have been sent to the Food Testing Laboratory for examination.
Both accused were arrested and forwarded to the SDJM Court, Brahmapur, on October 6.
The coordinated action by Badabazar Police, Food Safety officials and BeMC authorities highlights the enforcement focus on unlicensed food-processing units and the manufacture or sale of food products allegedly not meeting prescribed safety and regulatory standards.
