Berhampur: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has completed a 3.4 km underground cabling project in Chhatrapur. This project provides stronger and more reliable power for the district headquarters of Ganjam.

The new 11kV underground power network ensures reliable, uninterrupted, and storm proof electricity for key government and administrative offices. Institutions now connected include the Ganjam Collectorate, SP Office, and the Sub Divisional Hospital in Chhatrapur.

In addition to serving public administration offices, the new underground network delivers safer and more reliable electricity to nearly 1,000 residents in Chhatrapur. It also strengthens power supply for prominent commercial hubs across the town. Major areas benefiting from this project include High School Road, Karini Sahi, Fish Market Road, Chhatrapur Main Road, Nilakantha Sahi, Kapila Sahi, and Patra Sahi.

A major technical highlight of this project is the improved interconnection between the Lower Bus Stand Feeder and the Upper Bus Stand Feeder. Both feeders are powered by the Chhatrapur Primary Substation.

By linking them through underground cabling, TPSODL can now reroute electricity more efficiently. This makes it easier to manage power during maintenance or emergency breakdowns. As a result, the entire town receives continuous electricity without long interruptions.

Speaking on this milestone, Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL, said: “Modernizing our distribution network with strong and safe underground infrastructure is a major goal for TPSODL. Chhatrapur is the administrative center of Ganjam district, and securing uninterrupted power supply for key offices like the Collectorate, SP Office, and the local hospital is essential for smooth public services and emergency response. This 3.4 km underground cabling project not only protects our power network from severe weather but also enhances safety and reliability for over 1,000 local residents and shopkeepers on busy commercial roads.”

TPSODL remains committed to upgrading power infrastructure across Southern Odisha to deliver continuous, safe, and quality power to all its consumers.
