Three More Arrested, Two Juveniles Apprehended in Kukudakhandi Gang Violence Case; Two Live Bombs Recovered

Brahmapur, September 18, 2026: In a further development in the Kukudakhandi gang violence case, Brahmapur Sadar Police have arrested three more persons and apprehended two juveniles in conflict with law in connection with the alleged rioting, assault and bomb-hurling incident at Bauri Sahi on September 14.

The latest arrests take the investigation forward following the arrest of the primary accused on September 16. Police have also recovered two live jute bombs during the investigation.

According to police, a group of persons allegedly armed with swords, katis and other weapons entered Bauri Sahi, Kukudakhandi, at around 5 PM on September 14, leading to a serious law-and-order situation.

Based on the complaint, Brahmapur Sadar Police Station registered Case No. 585/2026 dated September 15 under Sections 126(2), 296, 109, 351(2), 190 and 111(2)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 27 of the Arms Act and Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.

As part of the continuing investigation, police on September 18 arrested:

Gangadhar Mohanty @ Ganga (22), son of Rajendra Mohanty of Kaluasahi, Kukudakhandi.

Bikash Patra (25), son of Rabindra Patra of Kaluasahi, Kukudakhandi.

Subham Kumar Sahu (19), son of Susant Kumar Sahu of Balakrushnapur.

Two juveniles, aged 16 and 17 years, were also apprehended in connection with the case.

All three arrested accused were forwarded to the competent court on September 18, while the two juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Brahmapur.

During the investigation, police searched the premises of accused Gangadhar Mohanty following information allegedly disclosed by him. The search resulted in the seizure of two live jute bombs.

Police said the recovery was made during the course of investigation in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

Further investigation is underway to establish the role of each accused, identify any other persons involved and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the possession and use of the explosives.
