RAYAGADA POLICE CRACKDOWN BURGLARY OF TEMPLE JEWELLERY WITHIN 24 HOURS

Rayagada , August 27: The complainant C.H. Nagaraju, priest of Penta Shiva Temple, reported that after performing puja at about 10:00 AM on 25.08.2026, he locked the temple and went home. On the morning of 26.08.2026, he found the main door lock broken. On entering the temple, he found that unknown persons had stolen a metal idol of Lord Shiva, a metal idol of Goddess Parvati, two bells, two buckets, two hand bells and other puja articles. During investigation, three accused persons, namely Manoj Durga, Pavan Ganta both of Nuapada, JK Pur and Allu Harekrishna of Amlabhata, were arrested. They confessed their guilt for committing theft at Penta Shiva temple and one metal idol of Lord Shiva, one metal idol of Goddess Parvati and one brass idol of Panchamukhi Naga, Cash of Rs.1,250/- and a white jerry bag were seized from their possession.
One PIAGGIO yellow-colour auto No. OD 18 C 3139 & one Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle bearing no. AP 40 CK 3976, which were used in the burglary, had been seized by police. On the disclosure of Manoj Durga, the stolen broken brass and copper articles were recovered. All three accused were arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court for judicial remand vide Chandili PS Case No. 261/26 dtd. 26.08.2026 U/s 305(a)/331(4)/3(5) BNS. As the dacoity has been cracked down within 24 hours, the swift action of police is applauded by local denizens.
