Prez Murmu, PM Modi Unveil 72 Projects of Rs 47,600 Cr Projects at Rairangpur

Rairangpur,( 20/06/26): Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district turned into a showcase of development on Saturday as President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly launched and inaugurated projects worth over Rs 47,600 crore, marking two years of the BJP government in the state.

The high‑profile programme, themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, placed energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education and connectivity at the centre of the state’s growth narrative.

A total of 72 projects were unveiled. Among the marquee initiatives were the 600 MW Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project, the Stage‑II expansion of IB Thermal Power Station with two 660 MW units, and the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL) project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda.

Infrastructure got a major push with foundation stones laid for a Municipal Solid Waste‑based Compressed Biogas Plant in Bhubaneswar, a new Kathajodi bridge linking Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, widening of the Dhalpur-Harbhanga Road in Boudh, and four‑laning of NH‑353 from Nuapada to Ghatipada. In irrigation and education, the Kusumdihi Megalift Irrigation Project, an IGNOU Regional Centre at Rairangpur, and an Indoor Badminton Complex were announced.

Completed projects inaugurated included a 300‑bed District Headquarters Hospital in Boudh, 24 Atal Bus Stands, nine Automated Testing Stations, the Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH‑57, and a Sports Complex and Tribal Research Centre at Rairangpur.

Railway infrastructure received a boost with President Murmu dedicating two projects worth Rs 732 crore. The Jakhapura-Jajpur-Keonjhar Road-Baitarani Road multi‑tracking project (Rs 323 crore) and the Hindol Road–Meramandali multi‑tracking project (Rs 409 crore) are expected to ease congestion, improve freight handling and strengthen passenger connectivity.
