Rayagada, September 13: During his review visit to Rayagada on last Monday, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, after reviewing the govt welfare programmes like marigold cultivation, apiculture & pisciculture, animal husbandry & poultry, amrit sarovar, etc, has encouraged the tribal women SHG members in Dengasargi, Sarabuguda & Deopur villages of Kolnara block and temed them as “Adi Shakti”. He got amazed while greeted with tiny tots of the pre-primary and primary school students of the village. He spent some of his quality time with them and even took a tribal baby girl by his arm.

In a dialogue with the students of Ekalabya Model Residential School(EMRS), Siriguda, he has explained the sacrifice of Ekalavya through Guru Dakshina to Dronacharya. Taking a cue from the life of Ekalavya, he said, “Let the fingers be cut so also any part of the body, but the heart should be alive to empathise.” Then after visiting and interacting with the school students of GCD High School, he reviewd about the district’s development process in the DRDA conference hall.

Though the whole day was hectic & in spite of being 82 years of age, this pro-people Governor, who has mesmerised Odia people by reciting Bande Utkala Janani, met several institutions and individuals of Rayagada till his departure by train by 11 PM and got appraised of several issues of the district. While some people addressed him as pro-people Guv, the ever energetic Guv said that people are the real Governors & Masters & not me. “His simplicity got reflected when he decided to move train to Koraput, then by road from Koraput to Rayagada and by walk to the agricultural field of tribal woman farmer. All this in the area infested with Left Wing Extremism. Ministers, top Babus & cops must learn and follow. He visited this district during the year 2018 and similarly went to villages, reviewd the programmes at ground zero and boosted the morale of agri-horti farmers. This time also he stuck to his principle of People First”, said Sri Rashmi Ranjan Dora, a farmer entrepreneur from Kolnara.

Members of SAKSHAM(a facilitating organisation, working for Divyangs) namely Sri Dipak Rout, Dr.Badal Tah, Sri Rama Chandra Sahu, Sri Bijaya Mishra, Sri Shyam Kumar Das, Sri Bidya Bhusan Panda met him and requested him to instruct the district administration to establish a District Disability Rehabilitation Centre(DDRC) & a Divyang Seva Kendra to be managed by Divyangs, install a lift in Collector’s office,  ply of battery operated autos in block and district headquarters to be driven by unemployed Divyang youths, provide wheel chairs and assistance during grievance redressal at district and block headquarters, provide PMAY houses with proper latrine on a priority basis for Divyangs irrespective of percentage of disability, provide pension through DBT and bank facility at the door steps of Divyangs, establish Divyang friendly individual & community latrines at district and block headquarters to be managed by Divyangs, ensure facilities to be provided to the caregivers of Divyangs & allot land to landless divyangs on a priority basis.  Dr. Praksh Rout & other volunteers of Vanavasi Kalyan Asram also appraised him about the tribal children’s education.
