Patna,(Odishabarta) : the capital of Bihar, celebrated Holi with fervour and joy on Tuesday. The residents came out of their homes to celebrate the festival of colours with desi dance on famous Holi songs (Aaj Na Chhodenge, Holi Ke Din Dil Mil Jate Hain, Holi Khele Raghubira Awadh Mein and so on). The localities of Patna reverberated with sounds of laughter and joy. The fallen abir-gulal could easily be seen somewhere or the other. Some youths couldn’t stop themselves from making videos for shorts and reels. Further, people enjoyed traditional dishes, such as Pua, Dahi Wada etc. Tuesday, being the day of Bajrangbali, most of the Hanuman temples of the city were crowded in the evening, as the devotees offered their prayers. It is worth mentioning that Holika Dahan was observed on Sunday night in the city and very few children were seen playing with pichkaris on Monday also.

“Millions of Indians celebrate this festival at home and abroad. Holi is undoubtedly a major festival of Indian culture. It is celebrated on the full moon day of Phalgun month of the Hindu calendar with enthusiasm and zeal. The importance of this unique festival lies in the abundance of colors, manifestation of happiness and the victory of good over evil. Also, it is a festival to be played with colours regardless of caste, creed, or social status. On the other hand, it is also very sad for those who are not able to visit their natives to celebrate this amazing festival with their own family, friends and relatives due to jobs and other responsibilities”, said Umesh Kumar Mishra, a Patna-based Hindi Translator (Senior Grade).
