One arrested for manufacturing adulterated PICKLES and duplicating branded Pickles |

Bureau, Odishabarta, Berhampur (06-03-2024 ) : Badabazar police and Food Safety officer, Berhampur raided a manufacturing and processing unit various types of PICKLES by adding dangerous chemicals and adulterating those with non-permitted synthetic colors etc. in a rented house at Brajaraja Nagar 4th lane, Berhampur under Badabazar PS. It was run by Pintu Sahu (34) S/O- Minaketan Sahu of Ambika Nagar, PS-Badabazar, Berhampur.

FIR was registered and accused was found present in the processing Unit along with his workers . During verification huge quantity of different types of raw materials of PICKLES, half processed PICKLES, finally processed PICKLES were seized. Different Chemicals, non-permitted colours and other adulterated stuff that are very dangerous to human health were seized.

Different branded PICKLES like PRIYA Pickles, Sri Durga Pickles, PRIME Company pickles etc. were also seized which were purchased from market by the accused and adulterated with addition of chemicals and resealing them and selling those in high price and in this way he has been cheating the general people since last 1 year in an unhygienic way.

With help of BeMC Food Safety officials, samples were drawn up from all types of PICKLES which will be sent to Food testing Laboratory, Bhubaneswar for examination and opinion. Further investigation going on to arrest others involved and to identify the supply chain and their involvement in the crime.
