Odisha,Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to Lead Flag Hoisting in State Capital

Bhubaneswar,(10/08/26):As the nation prepares to celebrate the 79th Independence Day, Odisha is set for a grand and coordinated display of patriotism.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will hoist the National Flag and take the salute at the state-level parade in the capital city of Bhubaneswar on 15 August 2026.
In a clear signal of inclusive leadership, Deputy Chief Ministers and Cabinet Ministers have been assigned to hoist the Tricolour in 15 districts, while senior administrative officers will lead the celebrations in the remaining districts.
Deputy CM K.V. Singh Deo will unfurl the National Flag in Kalahandi, while Deputy CM Pravati Parida will do the honours in Sundargarh.
Thirteen other ministers will take charge in key districts:
Suresh Pujari – Kataka
Rabi Narayan Naik – Anugola
Nityananda Gond – Malkangiri
Krushna Chandra Patra – Sambalpur
Prithiviraj Harichandan – Ganjam
Dr Mukesh Mahaling – Rayagada
Bibhuti Bhusan Jena – Kandhamal
Dr Krushna Chandra Mahapatra – Khordha
Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia – Puri
Suryabanshi Suraj – Balangir
Pradeep Bal Samanta – Baleshwar
Gokulananda Mallik – Gajapati
Sampad Chandra Swain – Koraput
In the remaining districts, the responsibility shifts to senior bureaucrats. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division) will hoist the flag in Jagatsinghpur, while the RDC (Southern Division) will do so in Berhampur (Brahmapur).
District Collectors will lead the ceremonies in Baragada, Bhadrak, Boudh, Debagada, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagada, Nuapada and Sonpur.
The Additional District Magistrate of Rourkela will unfurl the flag in the steel city.
The official list, released by the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday, reflects a deliberate effort to ensure that the spirit of Independence Day reaches every corner of the state — from the tribal heartlands of Malkangiri and Rayagada to the coastal belts of Puri and Balasore.
