Odisha Vigilance arrested five Health Staff members  for misappropriation of Rs. 2 Crore govt money

Cuttack/Berhamour,( 8/04/26):The Odisha Vigilance Department has arrested five employees from a community health centre ,(CHC) for allegedly misappropriation over Rs 2 crore of government funmoneyds. The individuals, associated with the Kodala CHC in Ganjam district, reportedly created fake salary bills to misappropriate money.

 An ongoing investigation  by Odisha vigilance,Berhamor division aims to uncover additional participants.

In a significant crackdown, the Odisha Vigilance Department arrested five employees of a community health centre for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to over Rs 2 crore. The arrests occurred after accusations surfaced that staff at the Kodala CHC in Ganjam district had prepared fake arrear salary bills.

A case has been registered at the Berhampur vigilance division under; Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(a) of the PC Act 1988 (as amended in 2018),Relevant sections of the IPC (409/467/468/471/120-B),Relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (316(5)/336(3)/338/340(2)/61(2)). against the accused, including three women, who are said to have siphoned off funds between 2023 and 2025. Officials are examining the records to assess the full scope of the embezzlement and determine if more staff were involved.

The arrested persons  ; The five individuals arrested include

Sri Jatin Kumar Bhuyan – Senior Assistant.

Smt Bharati Pradhan – MPHW (Female).

Sri Gopal Nahak – Attendant.

Smt Manu Nayak – Sweeper.

Sri Rama Chandra Mallika – Attendant, PHC Beguniapada.

Further source reveal that,earlier, seven employees of the CHC, including these five detained individuals, were suspended by the chief district medical and public health officer of Ganjam over similar allegations. The ongoing investigation is expected to reveal further details of the scandal.

They  were forwarded  to the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

Ongoing InvestigationFive arrests have been made so far. Vigilance officials are currently investigating the matter to determine the full extent of the syndicate and identify any further official involvement.
