Bhubaneswar,( 1904/26):Odisha has taken a significant step forward in its journey toward becoming a technology and semiconductor hub.

In a landmark development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw jointly laid the foundation stone for the advanced 3D Glass Solution semiconductor project in Info Valley, Bhubaneswar.

This project signals the beginning of a new era of industrial and technological growth in the state, strengthening Odisha’s position in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw praised the state government’s commitment to industrial growth and job creation, stating that Odisha is entering a new phase of development. He noted that the facility’s product would be the first of its kind in India and highlighted the potential of glass substrate technology to shape the future of the semiconductor industry.

Chief Minister Majhi described the occasion as a milestone not only for Odisha but also for India’s technological progress. He said the project would establish the country’s first advanced 3D glass substrate packaging unit, with applications in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and defence electronics.

Highlighting global interest, Majhi said that companies like Intel, Lockheed Martin and Applied Materials are associated with 3D Glass Solutions, reflecting growing international confidence in Odisha as an investment destination.

The project, with an investment of around Rs 2,000 crore, is expected to produce 70,000 glass panels annually, along with 50 million assembled units and 13,200 advanced 3DHI modules. It is also projected to generate around 2,500 jobs in the state.

Odisha has already attracted over Rs 10,000 crore in semiconductor investments, with companies like RIR Power Electronics and SiCSEM having established units in the state.

Calling Odisha an ideal hub for the global semiconductor industry, the Chief Minister invited investors and innovators to consider the state as a destination for building future technologies.

Rs.2,000 Crore Investment to Generate 2,500 Jobs

The upcoming facility, being developed with an investment of approximatelyRs.2,000 crore, is expected to create around 2,500 employment opportunities.

The unit will focus on advanced glass substrate packaging technology, considered a crucial innovation for the future of semiconductor manufacturing.

Once operational, the plant will produce:

70,000 glass panels annually

50 million assembled units

13,200 advanced 3DHI modules

This large-scale production capacity is set to boost both employment and high-tech manufacturing in Odisha.

Strategic Boost to India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem
