Odisha Man Strangled, Burnt in Jharkhand Forest; Trio Arrested

Sundargarh: A chilling crime has come to light in Jharkhand’s Simdega district, where the burnt body of a 30‑year‑old man from Odisha was discovered in Tikra forest.

The victim, Shiva Sahu of Sundargarh, was allegedly strangled to death before his body was set ablaze, police said on Saturday.

Police have arrested three men identified as Kishore Kerketta (35), Sanjay Kerketta (38), and Budhu Lohra (38), all hailing from Odisha. According to Simdega police, the main accused Kishore confessed that Sahu had been sexually harassing his wife for a long time. Enraged, the trio allegedly plotted revenge.

On March 10, they abducted Sahu from Odisha and took him to Jharkhand’s Tikra forest. There, he was strangled with a rope, and his body doused in petrol before being set on fire to destroy evidence.

Police recovered the charred remains on March 11. An FIR has been registered, and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody. Authorities say further investigation is underway.
