Odisha Heat wave;Rev.Minister ,Pujari Orders Cooling Shelters, Uninterrupted Power &   Water Supply

Berhampur,(19/03): The temperature in the summer season has started rising abnormally due to unusual rainfall followed by prevailing erratic climatic conditions. In view of the situation H&UD department has issued a detailed SOP with strict instructions to adhere to it and take necessary steps by all the ULBs.

Keeping in view a Preparatory meetings for heat wave management, such as those in Odisha (March 2026),  Thursday  through video conference  with  District Collectors,Commisioners of Municipal Corporations   Suresh Pujari,Honab’le minister of Revenue & disaster Management  directed  that  to  focus on ensuring public safety through early warnings, health facility preparedness, and inter-agency coordination. Key measures include setting up dedicated heat stroke rooms, upgrading ambulances with ice packs, ensuring water availability, and conducting public awareness campaigns. 

Citizens are urged to stay safe, hydrated, and follow advisories Heat wave Preparedness minister   added.

Commissioner of Berhampur  Municipal Corporation (BeMC) attended the meeting. Discussions focused on proactive measures, inter-departmental coordination, and ensuring zero casualty during the heat wave.

Soon after the conferencing   Commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) chaired a review meeting with line departments including WATCO, TPSODL, and the Department of Fisheries & Animal Resources Development (Veterinary) to strengthen heat wave preparedness..

Focus on uninterrupted water & power supply, public health readiness, animal care, and awareness measures. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated and avoid peak heat hours.
