Odisha Clinched Top Spot in Medal Tally for 2nd Consecutive Time at India Skills 2024

Bhubaneswar : Participants from Odisha soar high at ‘India Skills-2024’, by bagging the highest number of medals in this national championship. Odisha secured the 1st place in the medal tally nationwide, summing up the medals count to 51. On Monday, Team Odisha was warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar.

Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha, Smt. Rashmita Panda, Director-Employment & Chief Executive Officer, Odisha Skill Development Authority, Shri Reghu G, Director, Directorate of Technical Education and Training, Shri Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha & Chief Operating Officer, World Skill Center, Shri T Thambyrajah, Principal, World Skill Center, Dr. Subhanga K Das, Dy Principal, World Skill Center, and other officials were at the Bhubaneswar airport, to welcome the Skilled In Odisha champions.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his congratulations to the Odisha team for their triumph in India Skills 2024. He emphasized that Odisha’s success was a result of the contestants’ hard work and dedication, expressing pride in the state’s achievement. He added that this accomplishment would serve as an inspiration for others.

Alka Misra, Chairperson, Odisha Skill Development Authority & Chief Executive Officer, World Skill Center also congratulated the Team Odisha medal bearers. On this occasion, she said that under the ‘Skilled In Odisha’ initiative of Odisha government, essential measures are being taken to expand and globalize the skills of Odisha youth.

Odisha bagged 17 Gold, 13 Silver, 9 Bronze along with 12 ‘Medallion of Excellence’ at IndiaSkills2024 hitting the highest medal tally in the all India-level for the 2nd time in a row.Out of 64 contestants of Odisha competing across 48 skills in India Skills, 51 participants achieved medals across 41 different skills.

The ‘World Skills’ competition is going to be held in Lyon, France in the coming September. After the best performance in India Skills-2024, now Team Odisha’s target is to bring laurels for the state at ‘World Skills’.

The India Skills-2024 competition spanned across 9 centers in 4 cities across India. Organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, the event saw participation of over 900 contestants representing various states and Union Territories.

They excelled in 48 skills like Mobile Robotics, Information Network Cabling, Industrial Control, Mobile Application Development, Cyber ​​Security etc. Senior officials of Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha and Odisha Skill Development Authority, visited to motivate the contestants during India Skills 2024.
