Night Dacoity Case: Gosaninuagaon Police Arrest One, Scorpio Used in Crime Seized

Brahmapur, August 31, 2026: Gosaninuagaon Police have arrested one person in connection with a night dacoity case reported in the city and seized a Mahindra Scorpio SUV allegedly used in the crime.

The case was registered as Gosaninuagaon P.S. Case No. 331 dated August 31, 2026, under Sections 310(2)/311 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting on a tip-off, the police team launched an investigation and arrested the accused within hours of the incident.

The arrested accused has been identified as S. Krishna Reddy (21), son of S. Dharmaraj Reddy, a resident of Badasahi, Karapalli, under Gopalpur Police Station limits.

According to the complaint, the incident took place between approximately 1:30 AM and 2:30 AM on August 31.

The victims, Gopal Krushna Sahu and his cousin Sukadev Padhiali, were returning towards their showroom via Andhapasara Road when they were intercepted near the Blind School by a group of unidentified persons travelling in two SUVs.

One of the SUVs allegedly rammed into the victims. The attackers, numbering around six to seven, reportedly demanded money, gold rings and the key of their motorcycle.

When the victims attempted to escape towards Mango Market Road, the assailants allegedly chased them and intercepted them at Meenakshi Nagar, where they were assaulted and robbed of cash, gold rings, a gold chain and the motorcycle key.

The accused reportedly fled from the spot after local residents gathered there.

During the course of investigation, police arrested S. Krishna Reddy at around 12:05 PM on August 31. A Mahindra Scorpio SUV bearing registration number OD-07-AR-6600, allegedly used in the commission of the crime, was also seized.

The injured victims are presently undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.

The arrested accused was subsequently forwarded to the Court of the SDJM, Berhampur.

Police are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the remaining accused persons and recover the other stolen properties.

Further investigation is underway.
