MEDICINAL TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME HELD AT SHILPACHAL MAHILA MAHAVIDYALAY

TALCHER,( 10/08):The gift of nature to the living world is unparalleled, among which trees have emerged as the savior of all.
Especially the trees are the foundation of the system that has been established for the survival of human and animal society.
The trees are the only one that can fulfill the need for medicine, water, fruits and food grains, protection from the scorching heat, and above all, oxygen that we need to survive.
In view of this, a medicinal plantation drive was organized at the Talcher Shilpanchal Mahila Mahavidyalay campus along with a seminar on “The Role of Trees in Preserving Life” by the Rashtratantra newspaper.
Talcher Sub Collector Ashish Ranjan Sahu attended as the chief guest and explained the justification for planting Ashoka and other medicinal trees in the Women’s College campus and expressed his gratitude to the editorial board of Rashtratantra newspaper.
As a special guest, Talcher Circle Deputy Director of Mines Debendranath Dalai advised the students to take care of the valuable planted trees and to devote themselves to their studies to bring glory to their parents.
As another honourable guest, the Deputy General Manager, Human Resources of NTPC/ Talcher Thermal Sanjit Kumar Senapati, in his speech, emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness through plantation of trees and said that we will be able to realize the vision of a green belt in Talcher and pave the way for getting rid of the pollution-related problems.
The programme was presided over by Bhimsen Dehuri, Principal of Shilpachal Mahila Mahavidyalay (+3), Talcher Range Forester Siddharth Anurag Parida, educationist Satyanarayan Parida, Public Relation Officer of NTPC Talcher Thermal Bishnu Chandra Sahu, Sagarika Mallick, Principal of Shilpanchal Women’s (+2) College Shibani Mahapatra, Chief editor of Rashtratantra Newspaper Dhiramohan Ray, Editor Debashish Parida were on the dias and spoke about the benefits of planting major trees.
Among others, social worker Jitendra Kumar Mahapatra, Sulekha Sethi, poet Karunakar Bai, Mohan Sitha, Bhagyarathi Mohapatra, all the faculties, staffs, and all the students of the Women’s College cooperated in the tree plantation. More than 30 saplings of medicinal trees like Ashoka, Broom Kreeper , Neem, Bullet Wood tree, Guava tree etc. were planted.
