Massive Fire Ravages Narangi Forest In Odisha’s Gajapati District
Bureau,Odishabarta
Gajapati: A massive forest fire tore through Odisha’s Gajapati district on Wednesday, damaging large swathes of greenery and posing a serious threat to wildlife in the Narangi forest under the Mohana Sadar sub-division.
Officials said the blaze spread rapidly amid intense summer heat, with soaring temperatures worsening conditions on the ground.
The fire engulfed significant patches of forest land, destroying valuable trees and raising concerns over the loss of biodiversity in the region.
Environmental experts warn that such incidents not only wipe out vegetation but also disrupt the fragile ecological balance, endangering both flora and fauna. Several animals are believed to have been affected as the flames advanced deeper into the forest.
While the forest department has been running awareness drives to curb forest fires, authorities suspect human involvement in triggering the blaze. Instances of deliberate burning cannot be ruled out, officials indicated, pointing to a worrying trend in recent years.
Fire fighting operations are currently underway to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, authorities have urged residents to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activities.
