Manoj Das arrested by Jarada Police from Pune Charge of murderous attack (!)

Berhampur,( 16/04/26):On 21.03.2026 one Damburu (50 years), S/o K. Krishna of village Solabhagapentho under Jarada PS reported that his daughter was murderously attacked by some unknown person. The case was registered and taken up for investigation.
During investigation, it came to light that the accused, Manoj Das (36 years), used to work in a prawn factory at Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. The complainant, along with his daughter (the victim) and other family members, had visited the said prawn factory. There, the accused Manoj Das came into contact with the victim and proposed marriage to her. However, the victim refused as she came to know that the accused was already married , but somehow relationship between them developed.
Family members didn’t approve of their relationship. Later the complainant, along with his daughter and family members, returned to their native village. Subsequently, the accused contacted the victim over her mobile phone. Meanwhile, the victim’s marriage was fixed, which the accused somehow came to know and got enraged.
Thereafter, on the evening of 20.03.2026, the accused came to the complainant’s village on his motorcycle and committed the offence in this case on 21.03.2026 in the absence of the complainant and other family members.
The victim was initially shifted to Patrapur Hospital and later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, for advanced treatment, as she was in a serious condition.
The incident was treated with utmost priority. Two special police teams were formed for the immediate arrest of the accused Manoj Das. One team conducted raids in Kandhamal District, while another team conducted raids in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Bhubaneswar.
Subsequently, based on reliable source further information was obtained. One police team proceeded to Srinagar in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and conducted raids at various locations with the assistance of local police. Another police team proceeded to Pune city, Maharashtra.

The accused Manoj Das (36 yrs) S/O Sampadia @ Saroj Das of village Sitarampur, PS- Judumba, Dist-Cuttack, At/Pr. Vill. Chandapur, PS Mahaveer Road, Dist. Dhenkanala.
On the night of 12/13.04.2026, a raid was conducted in Pune with the help of local police, and the accused Manoj Das was arrested from Pune city on the same night.
Police Have seized
1. One red-colour Honda Unicorn motorcycle bearing Regd. No.OD-35 D-3306 of accd.
2. One Xerox copy of Aadhar card of accused
3. One Helmet of accused
4. Mobile phone of accused
5. Mobile phone of victim
6. Weapon of offence i.e One knife cover written “stainless steel kitchen knife”
The accused was produced before the Learned Court of JMFC, Lashkar Court, Wanawadi, Pune, on 13.04.2026, and as per prayer, transit remand was granted by the Learned Court. The accused was thereafter brought from Pune on transit remand and produced before the Learned Court of JMFC, Patrapur.
The case is under investigation.
