Leopard Skin Recovered by STF

Bhubaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted raid by the road side near village:Gambharimunda under Banpur PS Dist. Khordha on 29.12.2021, as a result of which one wildlife criminal namely RatnakarSahoo S/o. RaghunathSahoo of Vill. Padmapur ,Gambharimunda, P.S.-Banapur, Dist.-Khordha was apprehended. During search, One Leopard Skin and other incriminating articles were recovered from his possession. The accused could not produce any authority in support of possession of Leopard skin, for which he has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection STF PS Case No.38 dated 29.12.2021 U/s. 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. 51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was registered. The seized leopard skin will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India, Deharadun for chemical examination. Investigation is on.
Since 2020, Special drive against the wildlife criminals/ poachers have been launched. STF has seized as many as 22 numbers of leopard skins, 12 numbers of elephant tasks, 7 numbers of deer skins, 8 numbers of live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales with arrest of as many as 51 numbers of wildlife criminals.
