Law Minister Assures Talks to Resolve Neredi Project Dispute with Andhra

Paralakhemundi-Law Minister Pruthwiraj Harichandan recently visited Mohana of Gajapati district.He attended foundation & rituals of new Hanuman temple at Manikapur of Kesarinagar.
Minister Harichandan has taken a proactive stance regarding the long-standing Neredi ) project dispute with Andhra Pradesh, signaling a preference for dialogue over legal battles to resolve the matter
The Neredi project, a long-standing inter-state water issue between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, has seen renewed tensions, with reports of Andhra officials visiting Neredivalsa village, which is claimed by Odisha, for activities like Aadhaar updates.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan emphasized a diplomatic approach to solving the dispute rather than escalating it, indicating a move toward dialogue between the two states.
The current Odisha government (led by BJP) is focusing on resolving major water issues through negotiation, contrasting with the previous administration’s handling of the issue.
The Neredi issue is part of larger ongoing interstate water disputes.
The Neredi project is situated in the Vamsadhara river basin, which is a major point of contention and a source of conflict between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
He later attended a meeting. On his views he said that Neredi,lPolavaram & Kotia issues will be sorted out with amicable discussion with Andhrapradesh Government. A joint committee will be formed.
Nothing to worry on sufferings of Odisha part. as both Government formed under NDA.Besides that development scenarios at Gajapati district will be continued.
On this occasion among others state Vice President of BJP KNarayan Rao,MLA Mohana Dasarathi Gomango,MLA Digapahandi Sidhant Mahapatra,SDC Chairman Kamadeb Badanayak were present.
