Launching of State Level Tribal Festival PARAB-2023 observed at Borigumma of Koraput.

Koraput:The State Folk Festival Parab-2023 has been launched in Borigumma. After worshiping at the temple of Aradhya Devi Maa Bhairavi in Borigumma according to tribal tradition, Collector Koraput Abdaal M Akhtar, SP Abhinav Sonkar, IPS all MLAs like Raghuram Padal of koraput, Pitam Padhi of Pottangi, Ex MLA Prafulla Pangi including Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka and thousands of art loving general public came out in a huge procession and approached the festival stage.

The guests gave their speeches on the Parab by participating in Parab  flag hoisting, Parab oath taking and unveiling of Parab posters and stickers.Koraput soil is the soil of sports.

Jeypore  MLA Taraprasad Bhajanpati expressed the opinion that young men and women from this soil have gained fame at the state and national level in running, football, weightlifting and other sports.

From today to the next 20 days, the successful youth sportspersons who have successfully participated in the competitions organized in each block and from the panchayat level to the district level will participate in various competitions such as running, football, volleyball, archery etc.

Chandrashekhar Majhi, Chairman of the District Special Development Council, said that the Parab , which was started in 1996 to give a platform to the talent and show them the right path, has brought success in many aspects.

Today, at Koraput Nishanimunda, the members of the parab organizing committee offered prayers to Gramdevi. Koraput ZP  President Sasmita Meleka, Special Development Council President Chandrasekhar Majhi and ZP-Vice- President  Lakshmi Hantal, Koraput Municipality Cchairman Lalat Ranjan Sethi, Sunabeda Muncipality Chairman Dr. Rajendra kumar Patro,BJD Women President Parvati Masti, former ZP President Tutasi Kirsani were prominent attendees.

The aim of the festival is to both protect and promote the region’s rich cultural heritage. We are confident that this year’s Parab will be remembered for participation and vibrancy,” said Koraput District Collector Abddal M Akhtar.

The festival-cum-competition at panchayat, block and district level will go till November 24, before the mega celebrations from December 25 to 29 to be celebrated at the Government college ground here.

Jeypore MLA Bahinipati gifted idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra to Koraput MLA’S & MP Ulaka and they hugged each other on the stage too, hinting at the improvement in their sour relationship.

The rift between the two leaders intensified after the removal of Bahinipati’s wife Meenakshi as the president of Koraput district Congress.

However, the recent meeting on the Parab stage indicated their intention to resolve the issues amicably. But it remains to be seen whether the new-found friendship is for real or stage-managed keeping the 2024 elections in mind.
