JMFC Court Sr. Clerk Apprehended by Vigilance for Rs.50,000 Bribe in Malkangiri

MALKANGIRI, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026:Odisha Vigilance on Thursday apprehended a Senior Clerk attached to the Court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mathili, in Malkangiri district, while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 50,000 from a complainant.

The accused has been identified as Achyut Kumar Pradhan, Senior Clerk attached to the JMFC Court at Mathili.

According to Odisha Vigilance, Pradhan had allegedly demanded Rs.50,000 from the complainant for providing relief in connection with two Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) issued against the complainant’s cousin in two separate cases.

Unable to meet the alleged demand, the complainant approached the Odisha Vigilance authorities and reported the matter.

Acting on the complaint, Vigilance officials laid a trap on Thursday. During the operation, Pradhan was allegedly caught while accepting  Rs.50,000 from the complainant.

The entire tainted bribe amount of 50,000 was recovered from his possession and seized by the Vigilance team.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are reportedly being conducted at Pradhan’s residential locations to ascertain whether he has amassed disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income.

In connection with the case, Koraput Vigilance Police Station Case No. 20/2026 has been registered against Achyut Kumar Pradhan under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.

Odisha Vigilance said that the investigation is currently in progress. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation and searches proceed.
