Indian Bank Commitment to Nation-Building While observing 120th Foundation Day & 80th Independence Day

Chennai, August 15, 2026: Indian Bank celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India and Bank’s 120th Foundation Day with a series of commemorative, employee-engagement and community-focused initiatives, reaffirming its enduring commitment to nation-building, financial inclusion and inclusive growth.
The National Flag was hoisted by Shri Binod Kumar, MD & CEO, Indian Bank, at the Bank’s Registered Head Office at Rajaji Salai and Corporate Office at Royapettah, Chennai. Addressing the gathering, Shri Binod Kumar paid soulful tribute to the freedom fighters and soldiers whose courage and sacrifices secured India’s Independence.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Binod Kumar said, “For 120 years, Indian Bank has been an integral part of India’s economic and social development journey. As we celebrate our Foundation Day alongside the 80th Independence Day, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening financial inclusion, empowering communities and contributing meaningfully to India’s journey towards a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous future of VIKSIT BHARAT”
As part of its community and social responsibility initiatives, the Bank extended support to beneficiaries through several impactful interventions. Two wheelers were donated to CanCare Foundation, Chennai, to facilitate palliative care to cancer patients. Hearing aids, prostheses and other assistive devices were distributed to beneficiaries of Akshaya Trust, while an e-bike was donated to a national-level para powerlifting bronze medallist, supporting her mobility and sporting pursuits.
Marking its 120th Foundation Day, Indian Bank also organised a Walkathon from Hotel Leela Palace to Indian Bank Academy for Growth and Excellence (IMAGE), MRC Nagar, with enthusiastic participation from senior management and employees. The event reflected the spirit of unity, fitness and togetherness that forms an integral part of the Bank’s Foundation Day celebrations.
Further strengthening its pan-India presence, Shri Binod Kumar virtually inaugurated 15 branches across different parts of the country, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to taking accessible and customer-centric banking services closer to communities across India. The Bank also launched various customer-centric products as part of its Digital Journey. To strengthen the cybersecurity awareness among the customers and the general public, the Bank unveiled its cybersecurity mascot “IB CYBER CAPTAIN”.
The celebrations were attended by Executive Directors Shri Ashutosh Choudhury, Shri Shiv Bajrang Singh and Ms. Mini T.M., along with senior officials, employees and their families.The celebrations commemorated Indian Bank’s 120-year legacy of service to the nation, while highlighting its continued focus on accessible banking, financial inclusion, community empowerment and sustainable, inclusive growth.
