Badal Tah, Rayagada, May 9: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed a huge gathering at the ground near GIACR engineering college in Barijhola. He was joined by prospective candidates namely Kaliram Majhi as MP Koraput parliamentary constituency, Basanta Ullaka as MLA Rayagada, Jagannath Nundruka as MLA Bissam Cuttack. Gunupur MLA candidate Trinath Gomango was absent. The meeting was presided over by Siba Pattnaik, Rayagada District BJP President. Rajasthan’s Ex-Minister Chunnilal Garasiya, presently officiating as Rajya Sabha Member & all the candidates contesting in the ensuing election, spoke before the arrival of Rajnath. Siba Ullaka, a prominent tribal face of BJP in the district even spoke about ill health of Naveen and wished that he retires from politics by giving reign to the next generation. He was anguished over the branding of all Modi Govt programmes by local Congress MP.

Rajnath reminisced about the contribution of tribals in India and said that his was the only govt to promulgate a national day for tribals named as “Janajatiya Gourav Diwas” in memory of great tribal leader Bhagawan Birsa Munda while BJD govt in Odisha behaved anti-tribal by initiating steps to amend a pro-tribal act named Odisha Scheduled Areas Transfer of Immovable Property (By Scheduled Tribes) Regulation, 1956 (OSATIP).

He then criticized the myths propagated by Congress and others about BJP. On the charge that “If BJP comes to power, it will change the constitution” Rajnath said that it was the Congress, which amended the constitution 80 times. “We have always stood with sentiments of people. Scrapping Triple talaq and Article-370 within a short timeframe are milestones of Modi Govt. If ever BJP has violated the laws of the land one can take refuge in court”, said Rajnath.

Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had once said he would send 100 paise, but only 15 paise reached the people. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took on this challenge and established the trinity of Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and Mobile, ensuring that 100 out of 100 paise now reach the people’s pockets without any loss to corruption. No one ever imagined that India would have a prime minister who would provide free rations to 80 crore people. Today, no one in the country dies from hunger. The nation is progressing rapidly. Shri Rajnath Singh appealed to the public to support the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha candidates for a decisive victory.

Modi Govt makes promises in the manifesto and keeps those by strict adherence. Within 10 years of our rule, 25 crores of families have been taken out of the poverty loop. In another 10-15 years it will be zero. But BJD govt’s 25 years rule has not been able to eradicate poverty in the state, said Rajnath. In the next 5 years, every person will have a pucca home. No family will be without access to nal se jal and every home will have an LPG gas cylinder for cooking. Shri Narendra Modi has extended Ayushman Bharat benefits to everyone, although the extent of its reach to the public in Odisha is uncertain due to the BJD government. If a BJP government takes power in Odisha, everyone eligible for an Ayushman Bharat card will receive it. Regardless of income, caste or religion, Ayushman Bharat benefits will cover medical expenses up to ₹5 lakhs for any family member up to the age of 70, after the BJP government takes office in June according to Rajnath. “India was at the 11th position in the world in terms of economic power during the ten-year rule of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. However, India jumped to fifth spot from 11th position in the world after eight years of PM Modi’s rule. The great economists of the world are now predicting that India will be the third-largest economy after the US and China by 2027,” Rajnath Singh said. Padmanabha Dash, Vice-President, Rayagada District BJP unit moderated the entire event.
