GM REVIEWS WORKSITE SAFETY AND ASSET FAILURE ACROSS SOUTH COAST RAILWAY

Visakhapatnam, July 4: General Manager(GM), South Coast Railway, Sandeep Mathur, today chaired a comprehensive safety review meeting with Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs) and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all four divisions to assess the Zone’s safety performance with focus on worksite safety, asset failures and operational efficiency.
The meeting focused on strengthening worksite safety, preventing asset failures, and further improving train punctuality across the Zone. The GM emphasized that safety remains the foremost priority of Indian Railways and called upon all departments to maintain the highest standards of vigilance and adherence to established safety procedures.
Reviewing worksite safety, Mathur stressed the importance of careful planning and strict compliance with safety protocols during maintenance and infrastructure works. He directed officials to ensure adequate protection at worksites, proper supervision of field activities, and continuous monitoring to eliminate unsafe practices and safeguard both railway personnel and train operations.
GM also reviewed the status of critical railway assets and instructed officials to adopt a proactive approach towards preventive maintenance to minimize asset failures and enhance the reliability of railway infrastructure and rolling stock. During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on improving train punctuality with proper operational planning, close coordination among departments.
